Triumphs of Humanity

Triumphs of Humanity Through Creativity and Commitment

Earth hour is one of the most important events of our time. For one hour, once a year, millions of people around the globe, including whole cities and corporations will turn off their lights. This may seem small, but the impact is amazing. Last year alone, that one hour saved an astounding amount of energy. For instance, Toronto reportedly saved 900 megawatts of electricity which roughly equates to 556 tons of CO2 emissions.

The first Earth Hour occurred in Sydney, Australia in 2007 when 2.2 million people, including whole businesses turned off their lights. The phenomenon of Earth Hour spread in 2008 to become a global event, one which I was proud to be a part of. Notable participants were the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, The Coke sign in Times Square, the Coliseum in Rome and the Sydney Opera House. In 2008, the global total was 50 million participants! In 2009 the goal is 1 billion people.

This year, each light that goes out will be counted as a vote for Earth. The results will be presented to the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen - a meeting to determine official policies regarding global warming that will eventually replace the Kyoto Protocol.

Almost 1000 cities around the globe, including our own Washington DC, have signed up for Earthhour already. But the U.S. is way behind with only 44 cities and towns signed up, while the current leader, Australia, has 144 cities and towns committed to this cause. Many other Countries are coming in close behind with France at 137, Canada at 96, Italy at 77, and Denmark at 58.

Let’s make this the best Earthhour ever. Let’s make that billion mark and beyond! Cast your vote for Earth by shutting off your lights for just one hour beginning at 8:30P.M. local time. Talk to your employers, talk to your civic leaders. One hour on March 28, 2009 can make a huge statement about climate change.

Have you stopped to imagine what that would look like from space? As each time zone turns off its lights in sequence, there will be a band of darkness circling the Earth. That’s an amazing thought isn’t it?

Monumental Lives For Monumental Change: ....Join Us!

We Making The Difference!" The Steps Toward A Better World Begin With The Steps Taken To Better Oneself! "A foundation is but the base and it is the collection of building blocks that creates what many should strive to ascend."

Living a monumental life doesn't necessarily mean possession of a large financial fortune or living in the spotlight of public adoration and fame. What I think it means is that you act in accordance with your own identity while acting in ways that are positive and conducive to happiness, serenity and harmony. What I think it means is that you generate positive energies and in turn, your positive energies have a positive effect on others. Linkin' Monuments-- a positive chain of energy! Read More>>>

The Thirteen Reasons

1.) You are as important as the next person
2.) Your contributions to this world are as monumental as the next person
3.)You believe in yourself because you know you "can"
4.)You believe in your neighbors because you know they "can"
5.)No matter how difficult it may seem, you are not alone.
6.)You deserve as much respect as does the next person
7.)Don't wonder so much what your life might have been but put into action what you want your life to become.
8.)You matter because we all matter.
9.)Enough failures will lead to success once you succeed in failing to give up.
10.)This world has so much to offer and you have so much more to offer it.
11.)You have many talents and abilities...a few which may have yet to be uncovered.
12.)The treasures you may seek are near enough the heart that it wouldn't take more than a heartbeat to uncover the most precious gems of all.
13.)You are here because you belong!

Welcome!

The Three Conditions

1.)This network is for one and for all...No matter what color, what creed or belief, what political affiliation you subscribe or what candidate you endorse this network is open to you.
2.)As in any community each one of us has our own unique personalities, traits, belief systems, talents and as long as any of these elements are not breaches against the prosperity of the community then they should be allowed, accepted and honored. Community is about diversity. This is a Community
3.)It is my greatest hope that we learn from each other. Each one of us has so much to offer. No one here is better or smarter or more talented than the next person. Each one of us has our strengths; each one of us has our weaknesses. Your strength in one area is of great benefit to my weakness in that same area. A simple philosophy of mine: "A greedy mine is to learn, yet not teach & A lazy mind is to yearn, yet not reach" Let us not be greedy, let us not be lazy.
