"Las Vegas: Beyond the Lights:
"My pen still points in the direction of the strongest wind while my compass still points in the direction of harmony, understanding and tranquility." Journeys into a Life Once Lived!

A Brief Introduction:

"We Making The Difference"

Writers, poets, artists, teachers, homemakers, soldiers, doctors, lawyers, bakers, barbers, farmers and pioneers, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers - each one of us is monumental - to be remembered and memorialized. Since the night of my "Epiphany" I had held on to this simple truth."

It most often seems to be the case that monuments are placed in our honor after we've passed this life but why not now while we are living monumental lives. Contributing to a more harmonious world is surely one way to live a monumental life.

Linkin' Monuments is about linking us--we whose desires are to lead monumental lives, therefore making a difference in other's lives while contributing to the betterment of humankind.

Why not join together and build the greatest monument we could possibly build -- one that will eternally memorialize our commitment to harmony, serenity, understanding and a more civilized world...

I've another simple philosophy: "I cannot cure all the ills in the world but I will do all that I can not to contribute to them." Pass it on! There is strength in numbers.

Monuments for the preservation of life & liberty, this network extends our gratitude to the Men & Women of the Military Services, past & present and especially to those who sacrificed their own lives, we owe you this... And to all, whose valiant efforts to help others and save lives, we individually and collectively shall always remember your monumental contributions to humanity....

I welcome you by one and I thank you all!

The Night Out (A Memoir in the Third Person)

Janet had her hair done up for a night out. The way she figured it, a night out with Chet would help to lessen her worries a bit, maybe even help her to forget who she was for awhile. Let the pressures of motherhood give itself to a bottle of gin. For a few hours anyway, she would place herself in the smoky theater of fast talk, quick pick-me-ups and time-challenging slug- fests. A night at the Dew Drop was what she and Chet surely needed. After all, they'd been in bad spirits lately, ever since… Continue

Speak Out Against Puppy Mills and Elephant Abuse!

Hey, I know I'm becoming the petition queen here, but I really believe in these causes. First, there is a petition put forth by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Care2 condemning the "Greatest Show on Earth" for their treatment of the captive show elephants. The allegations include, "hitting the elephants with bull hooks, rubbing dirt into sores of elephants to conceal their wounds, and routinely chaining the elephants on concrete or in cramped rail cars f… Continue

Member of The Daughter's of the American Revolution: Tribute to my Mom

For twenty years my mom researched her geneology on her mother's side and found her ancestor George Dillard of Virgina who signed the Declaration of Independance and fought in the Revolutionary war. She was a member of the Mary Richardson Walker Chapter in Vancouver, WA. I was not able to find a chapter to join this year. Now I am in the process of becoming a member of The Jonas Babcock Chapter here in Mead, WA. I have submitted my application and sent for the geneology history my mom completed… Continue

Celebrate Earth Day by Speaking Out for Jaguars, Polar Bears and other Imperiled Wildlife

I recently sent a message regarding our Secretary of the Interior, Dirk Kempthorne, who has apparently failed miserably in his duties regarding endangered species. Below is the letter I received in response and a link to send a message of your own if you so desire. Thank you for reading. Tracey Dear Tracey, Thank you for celebrating Earth Day by taking the time to speak out for jaguars, polar bears and other imperiled wildlife. Will you take the next step and help us spread the word? 39 years of marriage, New Baby, Changes, Weather, Events

Hello Everyone Well; seems I don't get here nearly as often as I would like or intend. I keep busy doing many things. Spring is taking it's sweet time getting to the mountain where I live. Forecast at this late date in the month of April is not appealing as of tonight. Snow again all weekend is forecast. This makes 7 months of winter now. Very abnormal. The snow falls on the satellite dish and then have hours and sometimes a few day I cannot get on line. I am not a fan of winter at all. I am ach… Continue

The Bookcase (A memoir)

Mom, I’m really hungry,” Wendy says, the growls from her mid-section providing testament to the hunger that pervades her eight-year old little body. Mother, who’d spent the last five or ten minutes fumbling through cupboards, pushing aside plates, glasses and cups in a futile attempt at finding something, anything to feed a child, looks tearfully at Wendy and says, “I’m sorry but all I find is a bottle of mustard.” “Can’t we just go to the store?” Wendy says. “Can’t we go over t… Continue

Mammie Had Spread Her Wings!

Today, the el train is the best way to go, I'm tired, the wind brisk, my legs not as trustworthy as I'd prefer them to be. Wouldn't want to take any chances with the long walk--it is my estimation of five miles to Lucinda's. I had taken her invitation. She asked me ever so coyly yesterday if I'd come over this evening to her brownstone to help her move some boxes down to her storage shed. About six o'clock would be a prudent hour she insisted as she had other things to do beforeha… Continue

"We Making The Difference"

In all of our lives we face both tragedy and triumph. In my life, as in most lives, I had experienced the ups and downs of life's trampoline. Sometimes I retained my balance while other times I tumbled and fell. It is here where I share my stories, my ideas, my inspirations, my convictions. But more importantly, it is here where I welcome yours.

No matter what the obstacle, no matter what hurdle you've yet to jump, you are not alone.

Inspired by forces greater than myself, taught by some of life's most difficult lessons, caught in the eye of the hurricane, I know that I am not alone, and it is because of this, I look to you.

You've so much to give. . . and most importantly, to yourself. Give to yourself what you may have been denied. Give back to yourself what you rightfully deserve. Remember, the world begins with you.

Something I wrote not so long ago: "I cannot carry the world on my shoulders but on my shoulders it is my world that must carry me."

Firstly, I want to thank you for visiting. Secondly, I want to thank you for realizing that no matter how powerful the tragedy or triumph, how elastic the trampoline - you have it within you to achieve the ultimate goal --finding true happiness and purpose in your life. And when you do, please share it with others... After all, whether it tragedy, triumph or trampoline -each one of us, at one time or another, had experienced its effects....

I welcome you by one and I thank you all!

Monument to Life

Broken Dreams,
Leaving you cold
Lonely in the night
An empty heart
growing so old,
seems to be no hope in sight

Promises that hadn't been kept
lingering deep in your mind
Rememberin' all the times you wept
Feeling helpless and blind

So sure that there's no way out
Seems to be no cure in this final bout

Voices calling your name,
through the silent night
Shadows of an eternal flame,
flickering so bright

Weakened and distraught, you search for the door
It seems you've been caught in this endless war.

But now, open your eyes and see the light...
It shines upon us all
You have the will to win this fight...
Your monument,
oh how it stands so tall!

Monumental Lives For Monumental Change: ....Join Us!

We Making The Difference!" The Steps Toward A Better World Begin With The Steps Taken To Better Oneself! "A foundation is but the base and it is the collection of building blocks that creates what many should strive to ascend."

Living a monumental life doesn't necessarily mean possession of a large financial fortune or living in the spotlight of public adoration and fame. What I think it means is that you act in accordance with your own identity while acting in ways that are positive and conducive to happiness, serenity and harmony. What I think it means is that you generate positive energies and in turn, your positive energies have a positive effect on others. Linkin' Monuments-- a positive chain of energy! Read More>>>

The Thirteen Reasons

1.) You are as important as the next person
2.) Your contributions to this world are as monumental as the next person
3.)You believe in yourself because you know you "can"
4.)You believe in your neighbors because you know they "can"
5.)No matter how difficult it may seem, you are not alone.
6.)You deserve as much respect as does the next person
7.)Don't wonder so much what your life might have been but put into action what you want your life to become.
8.)You matter because we all matter.
9.)Enough failures will lead to success once you succeed in failing to give up.
10.)This world has so much to offer and you have so much more to offer it.
11.)You have many talents and abilities...a few which may have yet to be uncovered.
12.)The treasures you may seek are near enough the heart that it wouldn't take more than a heartbeat to uncover the most precious gems of all.
13.)You are here because you belong!

Welcome!

The Three Conditions

1.)This network is for one and for all...No matter what color, what creed or belief, what political affiliation you subscribe or what candidate you endorse this network is open to you.
2.)As in any community each one of us has our own unique personalities, traits, belief systems, talents and as long as any of these elements are not breaches against the prosperity of the community then they should be allowed, accepted and honored. Community is about diversity. This is a Community
3.)It is my greatest hope that we learn from each other. Each one of us has so much to offer. No one here is better or smarter or more talented than the next person. Each one of us has our strengths; each one of us has our weaknesses. Your strength in one area is of great benefit to my weakness in that same area. A simple philosophy of mine: "A greedy mine is to learn, yet not teach & A lazy mind is to yearn, yet not reach" Let us not be greedy, let us not be lazy.
